About Gryphon Valuation Consultations

Mr. Parker has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry providing advanced financial solutions to businesses, individuals, government entities, and charitable organizations.

After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and a minor degree in Computer Science, Don launched his career in finance by joining a money management firm in Orlando, Florida where he spent several years as an equity analyst. After rising to the position of Director of Research, he went on to co-found his own money management firm, Gryphon Capital Management Company, where he added the responsibility for portfolio management to his analytical duties. Gryphon managed assets for a variety of clients through various portfolio processes that Don had developed as an analyst. These different portfolio options provided the firm's clients access to a global asset diversification strategy that could be tailored to individual client specifications. In 2000, Don was named by Nelson's as one of the "World's Top 20 Portfolio Managers."

Don has received the right to use the coveted Chartered Financial Analyst or CFA designation. To earn this privilege, he had to successfully complete a rigorous three-year program offered by the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR) and pass a series of three, annual, six-hour examinations. Requisite real-world experience was also a condition for qualification. Less than one in five candidates entering the program receive their CFA Charter. Holders of the CFA Charter have demonstrated a thorough understanding of the analysis and application of financial knowledge across core areas of the valuation process. Additionally, charterholders must adhere to a stringent Code of Ethics and Professional Standards of Practice. The CFA mark is the only globally recognized financial designation.

Adding to his professional credentials, Don also earned his Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA) designation from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). Aside from the numerous qualifying standards and testing requirements necessary to obtain the AVA designation, membership in NACVA necessitates periodic Recertification and on-going Continuing Professional Education. Mandatory participation in NACVA's Quality Enhancement Program assures that designees maintain current practice proficiency and are up to date on industry standards that impact valuation consulting services.

Don is also the founder of Gryphon Valuation Consultants, Inc., a firm that was established specifically to serve the needs of private business owners. The role of the valuation consultant is pivotal in the areas of buy/sell agreements, value enhancement strategies, succession & exit planning, alternative compensation arrangements (stock options, ESOPs, etc.) and estate planning. In addition to serving business owners, as a valuation analyst, he also plays a key role in the legal process, preparing valuation reports and serving as an expert witness in cases of economic loss, partnership disputes, dissenting shareholder action, marital dissolution and any other circumstance where the question of value is involved.

Don is very active in the Las Vegas community. As a professional, he has spoken to several organizations on topics of investment management and valuation. Some of the audiences Don has been asked to speak to include the Financial Planning Association of Southern Nevada, Rotary Clubs of Southern Nevada, local senior groups, investment clubs and business organizations.
